Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Orange food coloring gel
- Black food coloring gel
Instructions:
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt
In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined
Divide the dough in half and add orange food coloring gel to one half to create the basketball color
Wrap both dough halves in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour
Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Take a small amount of each dough and roll them into thin ropes, about 4 inches long
Twist the two ropes together to create the onesie pattern
Place the twisted dough onto the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a onesie shape
Use a round cookie cutter to create the neckline opening of the onesie
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
Once the cookies are completely cool, use black food coloring gel to create basketball lines and details on the onesie
